Finance Assistant (Part Time)

Wage Range: $24.29 - $31.37 per hour                                       Hiring Range: $24.29 - $27.60 per hour

Part-Time: 15-18 hours per week anticipated. Work hours are very flexible. This will largely be an office-based position, though there will be some ability to incorporate a limited amount of remote work, after training has concluded and contingent upon productivity.

Headquartered on the beautiful and historic MinnWest Technology Campus, in the heart of the Willmar Lakes Area, Mid-Minnesota Development Commission (MMDC) is a small, public, regional development organization. We serve communities, residents, and organizations throughout Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, and Renville Counties.

MMDC is seeking a part-time finance assistant. Under the direct supervision of MMDC’s finance director, and the indirect supervision of our executive director, this professional will perform various general accounting activities to support MMDC operations. This work includes but is not limited to:

  • Payroll system operations and maintenance
  • Accounts payable
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Preparation of payment requests and grant/contract reports
  • Set-up and maintenance of revolving loan fund accounts
  • Data entry
  • Reporting
  • Supply/equipment ordering
  • Special finance and office-related projects, as assigned

The right applicant will have the ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting practices and enjoy working in a small, results-driven and community-oriented environment. They will have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be highly-organized, detail oriented, and internally-driven. Some accounting or closely-related experience and/or training is necessary, as is the ability to be a friendly and dependable coworker. Additionally, our candidate will need to be skilled in the use of Microsoft 365 products, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
