Blake Barnard

Transportation & Community Planner

Blake joined MMDC in May 2024, focusing on transportation and community planning. Originally from Austin, Texas, Blake has been a resident of Hutchinson, Minnesota, since 2008, when he moved to the great north to open Zella’s restaurant, which he and his wife successfully ran for eight years, at one point earning a Businessperson of the Year Award. After selling the restaurant, Blake spent a number of years in the manufacturing industry, holding roles in estimating and project management – both great skillsets for a planning role!

In his current role, Blake focuses on the development and implementation of plans that enhance transportation systems and improve communities. Outside of work, he is an active volunteer with Operation Hope, an organization that supports individuals without shelter in Minneapolis. Blake also enjoys running, reading, and participating in chess tournaments. He resides in Hutchinson with his wife and three children.
